Week of April 8th, 2026
Last weekend we held our ‘Lucky Draw’ tournament fundraiser at Crown City Billiards.
Thank you to Elio for opening up early for us. Thank you also to all those that attended. At
the end of the day we saw Jose Torres and Nick Culbertson take 3rd Place, Roberto
Valenzuela and a guest player, Carlos Alfaro, finish in 2nd Place and our King of the Hill
team, Baj Khatao and Frankie Galvez keep the top spot in 1st Place.
Our next tournament fundraiser is our ‘Broomstick’ at the Eagle LA on Sunday, April 12th.
A poster will be sent out this coming week with all the details.
We just completed the 1/2 way mark of our 10 week regular season. Remember, only the
top 8 teams will be in the play offs which start right after our 10th week. Play offs will be
held only on Tuesday nights.
Congratulations to Stroke of Genius for being well ahead of everybody else, so far this
season. The Wild Cards and Sooeeze’s are a close 2nd and 3rd to each other.
CAPTAINS……remember to mark down the time each game starts. After a game goes 14
minutes, the Home captain must announce a 1 minute warning to shot clock. At 15
minutes, both players are on a 1 minute shot clock. Each team keeps the time for the
opposing teams player. If you are keeping time, remember to call 30, 15 and TIME in a
loud enough voice so both players can hear you.
Also, any new players this season get 8-30 second time outs. Returning players get 4-30
second time outs. Only 1 extension can be called per time out. Please circle the time outs
(T) on your score sheets and circle a second T if an extension was used. The F on your
score sheet is for a forfeit. Please circle the F if your win was due to no player showing up
from the opposing team.
We are slowly getting the new website running smoothly and are now dealing with
corrections and uploading archived information. The new website is 8ballla.org. If you find
any tabs not working or pages missing information, please let a Board member know.
We have 3 openings on our Board of Governors and are looking for a person to handle our
web site. If interested, please let a Board member know.

Due to BCA nationals in Las Vegas, our first night of regular season play will be Tuesday, March 3rd. This season’s schedule will be posted on our NEW WEBSITE which you can access at 8ballla.org later this week.
We want to welcome back last season’s sponsors…..Frank and Crown City Billiards in Pasadena, Charlie and Hunter at Eagle LA in Silverlake, Rick at Mr. Furley’s in NoHo and Brickyard Pub in Hollywood and Waldo at Trunks Sports Bar in WeHo.
We have a returning sponsor, Justin and The High Low Bar in Atwater Village. Welcome back to the League!!!!! We have a total of 10 teams this season.
Score sheets for this season can be downloaded and printed off our web site. Home Captain…. please fill in the wins for each player and make sure both Captains sign the bottom of the score sheet. Then text a clear pic of the score sheet to our Statistician, Tod @ (213) 932-1342. Results are sent to the BCA and will be posted on our website as soon as available. Thank you for your cooperation.
As previously voted on and passed by the membership, playoffs will be on Tuesday evenings only and our Bryan Haneiwich Memorial Hi-Lo Tournament will be held after Team Finals, Open Individuals, Women’s and the Last Chance Qualifier.
All players interested in attending the West Coast Challenge in Palm Springs the weekend of August 21-23 and receiving a one-night room stipend must attend at least four fundraisers or pay the equivalent prior to playing in any qualifier at the end of this season.
We have 7 fundraisers scheduled for this season. All are on Sunday afternoons. Registration is $20 per player. Registration is from 12 noon-12:45pm. All our tournament fundraisers are double elimination except for Sudden Death. They are as follows and can also be found on our web site calendar later this week.
March 15th Johnny Cochran Memorial Greased Lightning at Eagle LA (singles 8 Ball on a 15 second shot clock. This is our fan favorite tournament every season)
March 29th Lucky Draw at Crown City Billiards (random draw-scotch doubles 8 Ball)
April 12th Broomstick at Eagle LA (singles 8 Ball using…. you guessed it!!!!)
April 26th Pick-a-Partner at Crown City Billiards (scotch doubles 8 ball with a friend)
May 17th Sudden Death (5 ‘n Out) at Eagle LA (singles round robin 8 Ball)
June 7th 9 Ball at Eagle LA (singles 9 Ball)
July 12th 8 Ball at Crown City Billiards (singles 8 Ball)
